Big Changes in 2020: Where are people moving?

CarsArrive | Cars

With everything going on recently, from the pandemic to the rising costs of living in large, expensive coastal cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York, many Americans are hitting the housing market to search for more affordable, less crowded destinations to live, work and raise a family.

Research from Redfin.com’s most recent housing migration report backs this up, with data from more than a million of the real estate site’s users showing that those in more expensive cities are increasingly searching for homes in more affordable locales that still offer the perks of living in a major city.

So where are people moving right now? Here are some of the top destination cities.

Dallas, Texas

If you’re looking for a new place with plenty of job opportunities and a relatively low cost of living, Dallas can’t be beat. Forbes recently ranked the Dallas metro area number two in the nation for business and career growth.

Powered primarily by the technology and financial services industries, average incomes are well above the national average. Plus, living in Dallas offers a variety of things to do, with plenty of arts and culture destinations, nightlife, and sports to pass the time.

Atlanta, Georgia

With a solid job market, storied nightlife, and growing arts scene, Atlanta is definitely one of the best big cities to move to right now. It’s also home to more than a dozen of the nation’s Fortune 500 companies, and well-known for being a tech and film industry destination.

The city also offers beautiful, distinct neighborhoods, and housing costs are better than they’ve been in a decade.

Sacramento, California

While the cost of living in many parts of California continues to rise, Sacramento is surprisingly affordable, with housing costs about 75% lower than San Francisco. And with amazing weather, low crime, and access to some of the best schools in the country, it’s a great place to feel safe if you’re starting a family.

Living in Sacramento also puts you close to a number of great vacation spots, especially if you’re a nature lover – think Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. And it’s only a short drive to San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma, perfect destinations for a weekend retreat!

Phoenix, Arizona

If you’re in the market for a home in one of the fastest growing and cost-effective cities in the United States, Phoenix might be just right for you. Thanks to its small business job creation incubator (Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation) and a plethora of co-working spaces, Phoenix is a fabulous launching point for startups, entrepreneurs, and local companies.

With warm weather all year round, a distinctive Southwest flair, and a vibrant social scene, Phoenix is one of the top destinations for those looking for a fresh start. Bonus: Phoenix is only a short distance from Las Vegas, another city that almost made our list!

Hiring a car shipping company

If you are thinking about making a move to any of these cities, you’re going to need to get your vehicle there as well. And one of the biggest favors you can do for yourself to save time, money, and frustration is hire a professional car shipping company to get that vehicle where it needs to go.

Driving a car or truck yourself can be stressful and actually end up costing you more money than it would to hire a company like CarsArrive to get the job done for you. We offer a number of worry-free shipping service options to fit any budget, and with our near-perfect track record of 98% on-time deliveries and 98.8% damage-free vehicles, you can trust us to get the job done 100% right.
